OC United Together, Inc., doing business as OC United ("OC United," "we," "us," or "our"), is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Fullerton, California. This policy explains what information we collect through our website at ocunited.org, how we use it, and the choices you have.
If you have questions about anything here, email us at info@ocunited.org or call 714-515-3085.
Information you give us directly. Depending on how you interact with us, this may include:
- Your name
- Email address
- Mailing address
- Phone number, including mobile number if you opt in to text messages
- Donation amount, frequency, and designation
- Information you enter into a contact, volunteer interest, event registration, or program inquiry form
- Any message or details you choose to include when you write to us
Information collected automatically. When you visit our website, our hosting platform and analytics tools collect standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, time spent on the site, and the site you arrived from. We use this to understand how the site is used and to improve it.
Information we do not collect. We do not purchase contact lists, and we do not acquire information about you from data brokers, marketing partners, or affiliate programs.
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to your questions, requests for support, and inquiries about our programs
- Process and acknowledge donations, and issue tax receipts
- Send updates, newsletters, event invitations, and information about our work, if you have asked to receive them
- Coordinate volunteer opportunities and event participation
- Send text messages, if you have opted in to receive them
- Understand how our website is used so we can make it more useful
- Meet our legal, accounting, and reporting obligations as a nonprofit organization
We do not use your information for targeted or behavioral advertising.
We do not sell, rent, trade, or lease your personal information to anyone.
We share information only in these limited circumstances:
Service providers. We work with vendors who help us operate — our website host, our donor database and email platform, our text messaging platform, our analytics provider, and our payment processor. These vendors may only use your information to perform services for us.
Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or court order, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the safety of any person.
Organizational changes. If OC United merges with, is acquired by, or transfers assets to another organization, your information may transfer as part of that change. We would notify you of any such change that affects your information.
Mobile opt-in data is treated differently and more strictly. See Section 6.
Online donations are processed through EveryAction, a Bonterra product, which serves as our donor database and giving platform. When you make a gift, your payment card information is entered directly into EveryAction's secure form and is handled by EveryAction and its payment processors. OC United does not store your full payment card number.
We do retain a record of your gift — amount, date, designation, and your contact information — as required for donor acknowledgment, accounting, and IRS reporting.
You can review Bonterra's privacy policy at https://www.bonterratech.com/legal/privacy-policy
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies. Cookies are small files stored by your browser that help a site function and help us understand usage.
We use:
- Essential cookies, which are required for the site and its forms to work
- Analytics cookies from Google Analytics, which help us see how visitors find and use the site
Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies through their settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent parts of our site — including donation and contact forms — from working correctly.
Embedded content from other services, such as videos or maps, may set its own cookies. Those are governed by that provider's privacy policy, not ours.
OC United offers text message updates to people who choose to receive them. This section governs our SMS program, and where anything in this section differs from Section 3, this section controls.
Consent and opt-in. By providing your mobile number through a sign-up form, a paper card at an event, or by texting one of our keywords to our number, you consent to receive recurring automated text messages from OC United. Consent is not a condition of any donation, program enrollment, service, or purchase.
What we send and how often. Messages may include program updates, event reminders, volunteer opportunities, service announcements, and occasional fundraising appeals. Message frequency varies by program and by what you signed up for.
Rates. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan.
Stopping messages. Reply STOP to any message to cancel. You will receive one final message confirming that you have been unsubscribed, and no further messages after that. To rejoin, sign up again through any of our opt-in methods.
Getting help. Reply HELP to any message for assistance, or contact us at info@ocunited.org or 714-515-3085.
Carrier liability. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
How we treat mobile opt-in data. Your mobile number and your consent to receive text messages are never shared or sold to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
We share mobile numbers only with the messaging service provider that delivers our texts on our behalf, and only for that purpose.
Our full SMS terms are available at [ocunited.org/sms-terms].
If you subscribe to our email updates, you can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email, or by contacting us. We may still send you non-marketing messages — for example, a receipt for a donation or a reply to a question you asked.
This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through this website.
OC United serves children and youth through several programs. Registration and enrollment for those programs is completed by a parent or legal guardian, not by the child. Where a form on this site relates to a youth program, it is intended to be completed by an adult.
If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information through this website, contact us at info@ocunited.org and we will delete it.
Information collected in the course of program participation — including information about minors enrolled in our programs — is handled under our program confidentiality and consent practices, not under this website policy. Those practices are provided to families at enrollment.
Volunteer applications, background screening information, and program participant records are collected and maintained separately from general website data. Access is limited to staff whose roles require it, and this information is not used for marketing.
Background screening is conducted through a third-party provider, and that provider's handling of your information is governed by the disclosures you receive during the screening process.
We keep information only as long as we need it, with these general practices:
- Donation records are retained as long as required for IRS, audit, and state charitable registration purposes — generally at least seven years.
- Contact and communication preferences are retained until you ask us to remove you, subject to the record-keeping obligations above.
- Website analytics data is retained according to our analytics provider's standard retention period.
- Volunteer and program records are retained per the retention practices for those programs.
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect the information we hold, including limiting staff access to what each role requires and relying on established vendors for donation processing and data storage. No method of transmitting or storing information is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
You may:
- Unsubscribe from email using the link in any message we send
- Stop text messages by replying STOP
- Ask us what we have about you, and request a copy
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong or out of date
- Ask us to delete your information, subject to records we are legally required to keep
- Ask us to stop contacting you entirely
To make any of these requests, email info@ocunited.org, call 714-515-3085, or write to us at the address in Section 15. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we will respond within a reasonable time.
We will never treat you differently, or reduce the services available to you, because you exercised any of these choices.
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" setting. There is no common industry standard for how sites should respond to these signals, and our site does not currently respond to them. If a standard is adopted, we will update this policy.
Our website links to other organizations, partners, and resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to read their policies.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top. If we make a significant change, we will post a notice on the site.

We mobilize community members to step in before situations escalate into crises, strengthening families across Orange County.
We break cycles of abuse and isolation by connecting vulnerable children, youth, and families with the supportive relationships and life-changing skills they need to heal, grow, and thrive.
We break cycles by addressing the core issue: broken relationships – with ourselves, God, and others. When people are meaningfully connected to others, they experience belonging, gain confidence, and discover their capacity to create a better future.
Orange County spends over $800M annually on reactive services — foster care, juvenile justice, emergency shelters — yet family instability continues to grow. The system waits for crisis instead of preventing it.
OC United takes a different approach. By mobilizing churches, volunteers, businesses, and neighbors, we help families build the belonging and stability every child deserves — before small problems become emergencies that tear families apart.
